Supporting our educators
Supporting our talented and dedicated school staff is at the heart of what we do as a Trust, so that they, in turn, can support our learners to flourish and thrive. At all times, we aim to encourage diversity, offer flexibility, provide structured and continuous professional development opportunities and give staff a sense of purpose.
We do this through a focus on:
Collaboration and best practice
We believe that our individual schools know the needs of their learners best and can deliver the highest quality of education without needing to follow a standardised delivery programme. However, we are committed to sharing best practice and understanding new thinking in order to shape and develop a collective understanding, broaden colleagues’ capability and capacity and lead to improvements in the quality of teaching and learning.
Appraisals and Professional Development
We maintain an open-door policy where staff development and staff wellbeing can be discussed at any time, and we always welcome ideas from staff to develop new strategies and pathways to provide further support.
All staff are offered an annual appraisal where individual aspirations can be discussed, resulting in bespoke development plans to fulfil career aspirations, including training and professional qualification pathways. We also have a talent management programme in place to support staff looking to progress into leadership roles.
Wellbeing and Workload Management
We know that managing workloads and maintaining personal wellbeing is a challenge faced by all professionals across the education sector. We have a number of resources in places to support our Trust family, including occupational health and counselling services, and are developing systems and approaches to actively reduce workload for our staff by generating efficiencies and avoiding duplication, such as by harnessing technology, sharing resources, and streamlining reporting.
