Friday 19 June 2026 New wellbeing milestone for Elton Primary School Elton Primary School, part of The Keep Learning Trust, is celebrating after achieving the Bronze Emotionally Friendly Schools (EFS) accreditation, recognising the school's commitment to supporting the emotional health and wellbeing of both pupils and staff.    The award follows a 12-month journey to further strengthen wellbeing across the school. Through the work of its dedicated Emotionally Friendly Schools team, made up of teaching and support staff, Elton Primary has embedded a whole-school approach to mental health, ensuring emotional wellbeing is at the heart of school life.    As part of the assessment process, the school provided evidence against 17 key criteria and achieved the maximum 17 out of 17 points. Tuesday 16 June 2026 Young footballers set for a fantastic afternoon at The Keep Cup Pupils from across The Keep Learning Trust schools got their football boots on recently for The Keep Cup, the first in an exciting annual Trust-wide sports tournament, which this year took place at Gigg Lane Stadium on Thursday 4 June.   The event brought together children from all The Keep Learning Trust schools - Elton, Old Hall, Radcliffe, Park View and Greenmount Primary School - along with Mersey Drive Community Primary School, for an afternoon of football, fun and friendly competition.   Hosted at the home of Bury FC, the tournament was organised to give pupils the opportunity to build confidence, enjoy healthy competition and celebrate being part of the wider Trust community. The afternoon encouraged sportsmanship, resilience and positive relationships between schools.

Wednesday 27 May 2026 Old Hall Primary School launches new Out of School Club provision Old Hall Primary School has launched a brand new Out of School Club, providing pre-and-post school wraparound care for pupils from Reception to Year 6.     Children at Old Hall now have term-time access to the provision, which offers both breakfast and after-school care from Monday to Friday. Based on the school site, it has been introduced to support families by providing consistent childcare before and after the school day.     As part of the school’s newest venture, children can access a range of activities that show a clear understanding of children’s physical, emotional and social development, with the importance of a healthy breakfast in the morning and time to relax and socialise at the end of the day highlighted in the packed-out timetable. 

Tuesday 26 May 2026 Young Poets Shine at Keep Learning Trust Poetry Day Young poetry enthusiasts from across the five The Keep Learning Trust primary schools took centre stage during the second annual cross-Trust poetry recital event - a celebration of the power of poetry that brought together pupils, parents, and staff for a fantastic event.   Year 5 and Year 6 pupils from Elton Primary, Greenmount Primary, Old Hall Primary, Radcliffe Primary and Park View Primary were invited to select, learn and recite an existing poem or write and recite their own, entirely in their own time. After performing for their classmates in their own schools, one representative per class was chosen to go forward to the Trust Recital held at Old Hall Primary School.  Parents and carers packed into the hall from 1.30pm to cheer on the young performers. Wednesday 25 March 2026 Platinum wellbeing accreditation for Elton Primary School Elton Primary School in Bury, part of The Keep Learning Trust, is celebrating platinum accreditation by popular mental health and wellbeing in schools organisation, myHappymind.  Platinum is the highest level of accreditation the NHS-backed programme offers. The award recognises how the school has embedded the myHappymind curriculum into school life and is taking real action to improve the mental health and wellbeing of the school community.     The success comes just weeks after local Bury MP James Frith visited the school to observe and praise their work with myHappymind.  

Monday 22 September 2025 Elton Primary School celebrates appointment of long-serving teacher as new Headteacher Elton Primary School in Bury, part of the Keep Learning Trust, is celebrating the appointment of dedicated and long-serving teacher, Carolyn Ashworth, as its new Headteacher.  Carolyn, who first joined the school in 2008 as a Teaching Assistant, has devoted nearly two decades to Elton Primary. She officially stepped into her new role at the start of this academic year, marking a proud milestone both for her and the school community.  Carolyn reflected on her new role at the school, saying: “Starting a new role is always nerve-wracking, but I feel incredibly fortunate to already be part of such a warm and supportive school community. The staff, pupils and families have been so overwhelmingly positive, and it is truly an honour to lead this wonderful school.  “From a young age, I always wanted to be a teacher - I was forever playing schools at home! Thursday 17 July 2025 “A year to remember” – local school trust signs off for the summer with a smile As schools get ready to close their doors for the summer break, one Bury Multi Academy Trust is looking back over the last 12 months with an immense sense of pride.  The Keep Learning Trust, which until the start of the year was known as the Bury College Education Trust, has seen results strengthen, new schools join them, and their offer enhanced for the nearly 1500 children who are part of the Trust.   David Stephens, who leads Keep Learning, said: “At every level, our family of schools have seen progress and success.  “When I look back, we have had colleagues being invited to Parliament to recognise the impact that they have had. Our schools have also won a host of awards, and we are particularly proud of the ones that recognise our commitment to ensuring our children are happy and thriving. 

Tuesday 4 March 2025 Greater Manchester-based Trust, The Keep Learning Trust, welcomes two new schools to the fold The Keep Learning Trust, based in Greater Manchester, has recently welcomed Greenmount Primary School and Old Hall Primary School, both located in Bury, into its growing family of schools.     The two schools join a family of three other schools already part of the Trust, marking a significant step in its ongoing growth journey.    Originally founded in 2013 as Bury College Education Trust, the Trust has grown from a single school to a multi-academy trust dedicated to fostering academic success and lifelong learning. The newest additions to the Trust family provide increased opportunities for staff collaboration, resource sharing and learning experiences for pupils.
